World Trade Center 1, 2, and 7 fell in their own footprints
Claim
World Trade Center 1, 2, and 7 fell in their own footprints0
Background
The claim is worded in a confusing way, since “own footprints” can mean both that the debris from the three buildings were not spread over the area but stayed within the perimeter of the buildings, and that the buildings fell straight down and not toppling to the sides like a tree being felled.
Niels Harrit, a Danish retired chemistry professor, hints in his lecture about the terror attack on September 11, 2001, that the buildings ought to have toppled like certain buildings have done after their foundations had been damaged due to e.g. earthquakes or mudslides. His argument for an alternative explanation is that, since the World Trade Center 1, 2, and 7’s foundations were not damaged, it must be evidence that the official account is false1.
Regardless of the meaning the claim is used by the Truth Movement to support another claim, namely that the World Trade Center 1, 2, and 7 collapsed due to controlled demolitions.
Facts
All photographs and videos clearly show that there were an enormous amount of debris scattered across the whole disaster area from all three buildings. The buildings surrounding the World Trade Center 1, 2, and 7 were all more or less damaged.
FEMA estimated that the disaster reached far beyond the footprints of the three buildings.
It is somewhat unclear, why it is to be expected that tall buildings should collapse like felled trees and not like the three buildings did. There is no comparison since no skyscrapers have ever been hit full force by hijacked passenger planes. The collapse of the World Trade Center 7 was also a unique situation, since the fires were not fought.
The explanation seems straight-forward enough: The ever-present gravity makes sure that the buildings collapse vertically the moment the structures break down. NIST has in their reports about the World Trade Center 1, 2, and 7 given a very thorough account of the events2.
Logic
There are several problems with the claim.
The Truth Movement claims that the New World Order is powerful enough to place explosives, in all secrecy, in the World Trade Center 1, 2, and 7 but tnot able to make the buildings collapse, so that it does not look like controlled demolitions.
The claim is contradicted by the claim that steel sections flew horizontally with more than 180 km/h.
The claim is also contradicted by the fact that it took rescue teams and cleanup workers many months to clear the area around the World Trade Center.
Conclusion
The claim is therefore:
- False
- Undocumented
- Self-contradicting
